About StreamerVitals

While a channel is live, we sample its public concurrent viewer count on a schedule and store each reading with the moment it was taken. Once the broadcast ends, those readings become a permanent record of that stream: how many people were watching at a typical moment, how high it peaked, how long it ran, and which categories it covered. Roll those broadcasts up and you get a channel’s trajectory over days, months and years.

From that one measurement, everything else follows:

• Channel profiles — average and peak viewers, estimated hours watched, follower growth, streaming schedule, category breakdown and the full list of broadcasts we tracked.
• Stream pages — the viewership timeline of a single broadcast, with the category changes marked on it.
• Rankings — who is largest, who is growing fastest, who is trending against their own baseline, and which smaller channels are rising.
• Category pages — which channels stream a given game, how much observed viewership it draws, and which channels within it are gaining.
• Comparisons — two channels side by side, on identical windows and identical definitions.

What we cannot do is equally important. We are outside the platform. Unique viewers, chat participation, subscriber counts, revenue and traffic sources are all private to the streamer and to Twitch, and none of them are published here — not even as an estimate. There is no account to create, no paywall, no trial, and no tier that unlocks the history. Every channel page, every ranking and every chart on this site is available to everyone, including the people the data is about. That is a deliberate choice, not an introductory offer: a streamer should not have to pay to see the public record of their own broadcasts.

Running the service does cost money — servers, a database that grows every day, and continuous API polling. The intended funding model is display advertising: ordinary, clearly-delineated ad slots in the page layout.

Streamers

An outside view of your own trajectory that does not disappear when a dashboard window rolls over — which broadcasts performed, which categories draw your audience, how consistent your viewership is, and how the last month compares with the month before it.

Viewers

Context for a channel you have just found: how big it usually is, whether that one enormous stream was typical, when it tends to go live, and what it actually streams rather than what its title says.

Anyone evaluating a channel

Sponsorships, collaborations, agency shortlists and event bookings all start with the same question — is this audience real and is it steady? Average viewers over a defined window, alongside a consistency score and a published sampling confidence, answers that far better than a follower count does.

Journalists and researchers

Figures with a stated method, a stated collection period and stated limitations. Quote them, and please link to the page you took them from so readers can see the same caveats you did.

StreamerVitals is not Twitch, is not part of Twitch, and has no relationship with Twitch beyond being a registered consumer of its public API under its developer terms. We do not use Twitch’s branding, logos or colours as our own identity, we never mirror Twitch imagery onto our own servers, and we do not present our figures as Twitch’s official numbers.

Our figures are sampled estimates, and we would rather say so on every page than imply a precision we do not have. Sampling means a true momentary peak between two readings is invisible to us; it means a channel we started tracking last month has one month of history and no more; and it means our category totals describe the part of the live directory we observe, not the whole platform. All of that is set out plainly in the methodology.

Corrections are welcome — if a figure looks wrong rather than merely different from another source, we want to hear about it. Streamers who want cached channel material corrected or removed have a dedicated process, including what we can remove and what we may retain.
